Formal Application via Uni Assist
The application procedure for the BA Expanded Realities at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt consists of a formal application and an artistic entrance examination which you apply for separately.
The formal application includes documentation of your educational level. It must be submitted through UNI ASSIST, the University Application Service for International Students.
For the artistic entrance examination you are encouraged to bring a digital portfolio to the presence examination consisting of 2-3 work samples related to the field of study.
In order to study Expanded Realities you will need a valid University Entrance Certificate. If you obtain your University Entrance Certificate only after the application deadline, you must submit a certification of enrolment from your school and the last two school reports. If you do not have a University Entrance Certificate at all and do not expect to obtain it in the year of your application, you may apply for admission based on outstanding artistic aptitude. As the Expanded Realities Programme is mainly carried out in English language, English language proficiency is mandatory and must be given proof of through a B2 Certificate or through an English grade better than average on your school report.
You are encouraged to bring a digital portfolio to the interview consisting of 2-3 work samples. This could be anything related to the field of Expanded Realities, such as: 3D experiences, ER/XR-concepts, virtual- or augmented reality applications, 2D/3D games, 3D graphics , 360° video, concept art, storyboards, corresponding prototypes/physical models etc.
After you handed in the complete applications documents you will receive an invitation for the Presence Examination. The Presence Examination is carried out in the Rooms of the Expanded Realities Department end of June and beginning of August. It consists of practical and creative tasks and an interview with the Examiners Board. More information on the Expanded Realities Entrance Examination can be found here.
If you live outside of Germany permanently of temporarily (for education or work reasons) and are unable to travel to Germany for the Presence Examination, you may apply for Distant Examination. Please address your reasoned request to the Chairperson of the Expanded Realities Entrance Examination Board. Please note that a holiday trip is not an acceptable reason to qualify for Distant Examination.
