Project Summary
“Crystal Vision” is the name of our concept and prototype exploring the hidden ventures
beyond a museum’s exhibition within Virtual Reality. In order to spark a sense of wonder and origin for the minerals presented in the Senckenberg Museum Frankfurt, we put the visitor in the shoes of an experienced mineralogist in search of the gemstones presented in the museum.
This knowledge of a mineralogist is represented by our so-called “Crystal Vision” inside of Virtual Reality.
The Experience
At the museum you stand in front of a showcase with minerals. You put on the headset and
travel to one of the many excavation sites on earth together with the showcase. Find the
gemstone of the scene by using many different tools for excavation and cleaning.
Crystal Vision helps you along the way by visualising what only an experienced mineralogist knows such as hinting at the location of gemstones and giving you the ability to know their
composition. Invisible for spectators, only you are able to see this knowledge.
Work together with other visitors at the museum to collect all gemstones missing from the
showcase by finding them in the different locations.
